Hydrocarbon fires are combustible liquid fires and have no affinity for water. There are three main groups:

• Light Hydrocarbons - petrol, heptane, cyclohexane, terpenes
• Heavy Hydrocarbons - fuel, diesel kerosene
• Aromatic Hydrocarbons - benzene, toulene
